The Angels partner with Society for Community Organization and bring smiles to a new group of children in need.
Last year, the Angels reached out to Society for Community Organization (SoCO) to see if we could be of assistance over the holiday season. SoCO is non-profit-making and non-governmental community organization in Hong Kong that advocates for resources and policies to help marginalized groups of society. According to SoCO, there are about 1.34 million people living under the poverty line in Hong Kong. Of that figure, 229,000 of them are children and 50,000 of them live in cage-homes, cubicles, sub-divided or roof-top huts. SoCO not only fights for education rights and rehousing opportunites, but also advocates a fair distribution of resources to provide temporary supplies and services to support these children.
For 199 SoCO children, and with the help our generous donors and volunteers, Angels for Orphans donated over HKD$32,000 to help fund Christmas presents and 32 pieces of sports equipment in December 2017.
